Building Redevelopment

Wollaston Baptist Church
Changing and Challenging Times

As a church we are facing a time of change and challenge. We shall soon be leaving our present buildings (with our last Sunday on 2nd October) and will be meeting in the Village Hall and Oasis, starting the next Sunday (9th October) and for some of our activties during the week. This is because we shall be replacing our current buildings with brand new buildings that will enable us to serve our community better. We are building premises that will be welcoming and comfortable, accessible (for all ages and abilities), flexible for present and future needs and able to accomodate a whole range of activities as we seek to work in and for the community of Wollaston and beyond. Our present buildings have served us well over the years, and we are so grateful to all those who have made sacrifices in erecting, adapting, and maintaining them. However, in recent years our present buildings have hindered what have felt called to be and do as church and we have sought, long and hard, to find a solution. This has led us on a winding and testing journey to conclude that we needed to completely replace them with a new building that will be fit for purpose.

We are very mindful of the fact that many will have very fond memories of their times in the present buildings and we want to give people opportunity to join together in thanking God for his mercy and provision - we shall be having a final morning service on Sunday 2nd October at 10:30am - please see seperate invitation elsewhere in WASNAV. There is also opportunity, should you wish to do so, to share something of your story with us - ie. "What special memories do you have of activities or events or people at Wollaston Baptist?" (eg. your wedding, or baptism, or Sunday school, the sisterhood, GB, etc.) There are two main ways in which you could do this - by popping a note through the Manse door and by making a comment on our church website using the form available.

We want to thank all those who have been an encouragement and support to us on this momentous journey that we are making as church in these days, thanks to all those who have shown a generosity of heart and spirit and those who have been generous financially. All will be very welcome to join us as we meet together on Sundays in the Village Hall and Oasis, and welcome to take part in our activities throughout the week. Please see the seperate advert in WASNAV for some of the things we have to offer. If you would like to take a look at plans for the new buildings, then please contact us to arrange time to see them : Michael (Minister) 01933 663455, Maureen (Church Secretary) 01933 664302
